Sometimes known as stringthing - into all the fiber arts, books, and plants.
Gluten free rolls are done - it's a double batch of the loopy whisk recipe from the website.

Sewing tip upgrade: the original tip is that silicone earplugs are a perfect substitute for expensive thread conditioner, the upgrade I was recently given was to smoosh the containerless silicone putty between two buttons to keep it tidy.

Since its once again relevant - you don't need a prescription to re-up your TDAP and the pertussis portion tends to wane after the first 5years.

There is NO FUCKING EXCUSE for this to be happening.

I had a baby die in my arms of pertussis some fifty years ago. It was a HORRIBLE death. But my fellow nurses said to me, "It's almost stamped out now, they're all getting the shots, we won't be seeing this again."

HOW THE FUCK ARE WE HERE. 😡
A third infant has died in Kentucky, KYDPH adds:

“These are Kentucky’s first pertussis deaths since 2018. None of the infants nor their mothers received the recommended pertussis vaccinations during pregnancy or early infancy.”

I don't know what is happening with the barometric pressure but yesterday my ears felt like I was underground and today my knees are screaming and my hands are slathered in voltaren gel. My ankles sound like bubble wrap (more than usual).

I read both of the Witch Roads Duology by Kate Elliott over two days. Or three if you count that I stayed up until 1:30am on WEEKNIGHT to finish the second. They were incredible.

I hope everyone has as peaceful a sleep and as perfect an eyeliner as this baby girl.

Managed to catch the final shreds of daylight to document my new bathrobe. Three solid weekends of sewing in this baby and it's a major upgrade from my ten year old dingy white hotel robe. #sewsky #garmentsewing

Lunchtime stitching. I was getting nervous about how many I needed to go on these but I'm actually closer than I thought. Soon they will be stitched onto tea towels for holiday gifts. #quiltsky #sewsky

I have two things I would really like people to internalize about the fashion industry/garment manufacturing, and they are:

1. Mass manufactured clothes are only ever intended to fit "good enough," and;

2. Everything you wear was made by actual human people.

I've been trying to form a habit of baking on Sundays. This is the gluten free brioche dough from The Elements of Baking with added cinnamon and raisins, cranberries, and currants. Turned out very nice.

I am on the very last step of my bathrobe project. This hem may take a good long while but I'm going at a pretty good clip. #sewsky #garmentsewing

My spouse and his Dad (and his BIL) are going to a football game next weekend and I believe they are currently on the phone discussing outfits.

Since we got home I've been alternating 15 minutes of adulting with 15 minutes of sewing and sitting. Kitchen is done, sewing is not.

I need to purchase some sort of cards to send school pictures and shopping for them is kind of terrible. I need them to be large enough to hold a 4x6 picture and I want non AI graphics and maybe something seasonal but not overtly Jesusy. Shouldn't be hard to find.

This is how "fast fashion" works. This is how it has always worked. There is no such thing as a robot sewing-machine. Only women, and starvation wages. This was true 150 years ago. And it's true now.
The people who make Shein's clothes labor for ten to twelve hours per day (in violation of China's labor laws), some up to seven days a week, and earn as little as 15 to 30 cents per t-shirt.
