For NIH proposals, when are we thinking the "DOGE review" happens? After Council or before?

This may be old news at this point, but my R35 which was scheduled to be at council in early Feb, now is scheduled for council on 5/22. I guess we're losing an entire cycle. @jeremymberg.bsky.social @altnih4science.bsky.social

When universities say that they are highly "tuition dependent", what they are (usually) really saying is that they are highly dependent on the Department of Education's processing and provisioning of student financial aid. The impacts of RIF are going to be bad, to put it mildly.

My heart breaks to let amazingly talented PhD applicants know that I can't take them on in this current funding scenario shitstorm. I am so sorry :( I wish I could.

Has anyone been notified of a new NSF award after 1/20/25? While panels are convening, not sure if awards are being made.

NSF panels are meeting, GREAT! But are they making funding decisions and notifying PIs? Just wondering if we will see something like what we are seeing as the emerging strategy at NIH where grants may be reviewed but no funding decisions are made.
