Hello. I’m a real person, and as a real person, I’ve made some humorous observations about real life.

Minneapolis, MN (He/Him)
Progressives did a good job defending some (potentially) hard council races and did great at picking up park board seats.

Obviously lots of sadness around the Mayoral, but overall “Not as good as we hoped, not as bad as we feared” seems to be the prevailing interpretation.

Park Board much further left, but still with a contingent of cranks

City Council slightly more moderate (no longer a veto-proof progressive majority), but still largely progressive.

Mayor obviously stays as-is.

I have a lot of personal stake in some losses (Ward 5/7), but on the balance,

TL;DR: race is still anyone’s game, but it’s an uphill battle for non-Frey contenders after this first-round ballot drop.

I think the *majority* of Hampton/Davis votes will go to Fateh, but there’s a very strong (and not very online) contingent of “preferably not Frey, but definitely not Fateh” voters in our city. I wouldn’t be shocked if a significant percentage of Hampton voters in particular ranked Frey 2nd or 3rd.

Given that Wilson was pushed hard as the second-choice All of MPLS candidate, it’s likely going to Warren. But Ward 5 can be chaotic so I’m not calling it until it’s called, ya know

Uncle 3: Lead his church’s choir for 20 years. Cheated on his wife with a section lead the whole time.

Uncle 4: Investigated for murder by the FBI (no connection found)

Uncle 5: Lived a full life of miscellaneous get-rich-quick schemes around Puerto Rico

I always feel a little odd going there cuz I’d rather support a local spot over a chain, but they do admittedly do a *really* good job. I dunno if it’s just this particular franchise (never been to another location) or what, but it’s always been super solid.

It’s Carol; she’s pushing that rhetorical spin really hard and trying to get all the moderates to pick it up (and apparently succeeding)

I know Crash Test Dummies don’t always get tons of love from music nerds, but my dad had all their albums growing up and I have so much nostalgic affection for them. Somehow I never knew about this cover, so this was very cool to hear.

I was just talking about how I’ve never seen The Terminator either. Any of the series.
