Great thread! I think piece is the crux of the issue. We're caught in a chicken-and-egg problem: no readers, no ebooks; no ebooks, no readers. I have ppb/audio wide, but eBook is AMZ exclusive because KU is almost 50% of my overall royalties. Wish it were different. ☹️

Was cleaning up my closet and found my research notes from Blackout Trail. I plotted out the characters' route mile by mile across the North Country and Appalachian Trails, noting interesting landmarks and challenges. Fun times! I actually love doing book research. My search history is so random. 😂

The North Country National Scenic Trail features prominently in Blackout Trail. It is the route my characters take for much of their journey north. It was cool to visit one of the trailheads in person this summer.

I don't think they mean ill. But imagine a world where we could "cure" autism. Very few, if any, autistic people would exist, & that decision would be made not by them, but by their parents. That's pretty much textbook eugenics. We can make world better for high-support autistics w/o erasing them.
Autism isn't something a person has, or a "shell" that a person is trapped inside...Autism is a way of being. Therefore, when parents say, “I wish my child did not have autism” What they're really saying is, “I wish the autistic child I have did not exist, and I had a different (non-autistic) child instead.” ...This is what we hear when you pray for a cure. This is what we know, when you tell us of your fondest hopes and dreams for us: that your greatest wish is that one day we will cease to be, and strangers you can love will move in behind our faces. ~ “Don’t Mourn For Us” by Jim Sinclair

Rhetoric that autism is an "epidemic" is harmful. Rhetoric that autism is more dangerous than measles is harmful. (Esp since vaccines DON'T cause autism.) Rhetoric that autism should be "cured" is harmful. Autistic ppl/families need support & #AutismAcceptance, not this nonsense. #AutismAwareness
