I've watched this movie at least once a year for at least six years--it's my oldest child's favorite movie that we all watch together every year on their birthday (Wolf Children).

ok little buddy, I know how you feel. 2025 has been a rough one
"The raccoon entered the ABC liquor store in Ashland, Va., through the ceiling early Saturday morning. 'It wreaked havoc,' said Carol Mawyer, the public relations manager for Virginia ABC. 'It broke several bottles and consumed the spirits.'"

I love him.

Members of POP are among 30 people arrested yesterday blockading the Krome ICE detention facility in Florida standing up to Trump’s deportation machine.

No human being is illegal. It’s time to stand up and shut it down.
BREAKING: 30 young people were just arrested after blocking an ICE detention facility near Alligator Alcatraz.

ICE is kidnapping our neighbors on behalf of fascist billionaires. It's time for every single American to stand up to their intimidation tactics. Let's shut it down.

I am seeking useful resources that folks have found to:
1. share with people who are seeking to keep folks engaged in activism/organizing work. Resources that may also help to combat burnout.
2. help people who are trying to get engaged to find their people.

Every day I feel hyperaware we are living in an even more blatant dual state

The dual state describes a society divided into a normal state, which operates according to set rules & laws, & a “prerogative state”, "which exercises unlimited arbitrariness & violence unchecked by any legal guarantees”

All year long, Christophe Waggoner scours Texas thrift stores for children’s Halloween costumes.

His hard work is worth it in the fall when he hosts an event in which anyone can pick out a costume — for free.

an incredible but heartbreaking response to racism:
The dream of every Muslim is simply to be treated the same as any other New Yorker.

And yet, for too long, we have been told to ask for less than that, and endure hatred and bigotry in the shadows.

No more.

My latest is the story of how my community has rallied to protect and defend our neighbors in recent days, as ICE has targeted the Rogers Park neighborhood in Chicago. "This is not a story about a moment of victory, but a moment of being reminded of our power."

Before long, there were dozens, and then hundreds of people in the streets, watching and responding.

This rare form of human-wildlife cooperation is expected to endure, sustained by tradition and peer-to-peer learning, researchers say.

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

the joy I feel every time I go anywhere on my bike

it’s because of this

and because bike is freedom

and it’s building the new world
Very sincerely, every bit of travel we do in an EV, on a train, on a bus, on a bike/e-bike, by walking or rolling, or by other active transport, helps the climate, helps air quality, and helps national & economic security. We should fund these as national security infrastructure.
