After this weekend's racist attacks on the EU, I've written a column about the moral obligation to stop posting on X.

Oh no, wait, I wrote it *two years ago* when it was blatantly obvious what was going on and how it would get much much worse.

I feel compelled to write a review thread 🧵 for The Liz Truss Show because in the madness of the content, other aspects - vital aspects - are being missed.

1. The Aesthetics

Unless they were aiming for "Harley Street urologist waiting room circa 1992" this interview area is just unacceptable. 1/

“In 2017 there was not a single asylum seeker who arrived on a boat. Today we have 46,000 a year and do you know why? It was because of the botched Brexit deal pushed through by Boris Johnson and championed by Nigel Farage. Nigel Farage should be here apologising”

If you defend Farage and still support Reform, I hate to break it to you, but you are a racist. You can't excuse his behaviour without being a racist.

@shelaghfogarty.bsky.social Your introduction is factually incorrect. The BBC may have spliced together cuts in a rather suspect way, but Trump did incite. That fact is indusputable. You have fallen for the right-wing smear of the BBC.

Not a Lib Dem voter but the BBC News channel just announced the start of the LD conference then went straight on to Reform having held their conference earlier. Then an explanation that polls show Reform would win a general election with graphs and a diagram of the House of Commons chamber.
What?

This is a disgrace they need to fire the person at the BBC who is charge of the News, they are clearly biased.

Can't work out from this piece whether it's the coke, the fraud or the kicking of a police officer in the head that Liz thinks he's been unfairly demonised for. So I'll presume it's all of it.
Asked by Newsweek whether she thought Tommy Robinson had been "unfairly demonised", Liz Truss says: “Yes, I do.” A Conservative Party serious about ever regaining power would have slung her out long ago.

A very damp run this morning... was a nice temperature for a run though.

Think I've just about dried out now...

Garmin clocked me at 29:15, with an official time of 29:10.

Given everything that has happened on Twitter/X in the last 2 years it is astonishing that the govt hasn’t even reviewed its use of the platform
Oh, this is good: Lib Dem peer @markpackuk.bsky.social asked the Government "whether they have considered creating a Gov.uk account on Bluesky, and if so, when that consideration took place, and what the outcome was."

The answer reveals that Govt use of X hasn't been reviewed since April 2023...

@mrjamesob.bsky.social You could argue that any of the humanities (especially anything to do the classics) is a Micky Mouse degree. Personally, I'm older than you, yet decided not to take a degree. I don't think it has impacted my success in life.

Oh... pretty sure I did use goo.gl for some links, but they're long dead or no longer of interest, as in recent times I've used bit.ly.

www.heise.de/en/news/Goog...
Google's URL shortener goo.gl will only show 404 errors from the end of August
The service for abbreviating long internet addresses was discontinued back in 2018. Existing redirects with goo.gl will soon no longer work.

Only 2.6 miles until I hit the target for the #CancerResearchUK challenge!
