I also generate custom Resources based on import settings: Does the garment use my hair material? Should it hide the arms to avoid clipping? Does it have color variations?

The npc keeps a list of these resources and the nodes are spawned dynamically.

This is probably too complex for your use case!

I wrote a python script to export the individual garments along with the armature each to a gltf file. You can do it manually, of course.

Then I import them in Godot as separate scenes. If the armature is the same, you can simply place the clothes node under your Skeleton3D and it should work!

Hi, thanks! Keep in mind this is specific to my project and there are many different ways to do it that will work for your own needs.

What I do is I have a Blender scene with the base mesh and all the different clothing pieces (I call them "garments" but it can be clothes, hair, face features, etc)

I'm glad I put in the effort to make a modular clothing system. It's always amazing to see how much you can get out of a few building blocks! 😤

Went to the hairdresser's in real life and somehow came back home with the solution. Turns out my importer plugin was assigning the wrong layer to the meshes.

Now I can work on actual hairstyles! No more debug cubes for these guys.

Oh yeah still working on this. Why does my debug stuff always look more fun than the real thing?

Can't believe I had never finished a run of New Vegas after all these years. What an incredible game.
I did the Yes Man route, of course. Now onto the dlc!
