The world would be much better off if current political leaders behaved like the Pharisees (the actual Pharisees, not the fictional bogeymen of Christian scripture). Fidelity to law is a good thing. Being accountable for your actions is a good thing. Striving to do good works is a good thing.
Oh dear, the Gentiles are going all in today on their fantasy that Jews hoard the Holocaust for themselves

A most Philly interaction ever - some dickhead was fedposting pretending to be from Philly, I called him out for his obvious fakery, he responded and then blocked me. That's how I know you are lying - a real Philadelphian would fight me.

While I greatly appreciate everyone's faith in the people of Philadelphia, as a resident in one of Philly's many neighborhoods of immigrants, I can only feel fear and doom. No amount of Philly Elmo or other shenanigans will be worth it.
imgaine getting sent packing with your ass in your own two hands by some of the nicest people in the world and then showing up in a city that is famous for booing santa claus

Always read M Gessen. Donald Trump ruled the GOP using the same terror techniques that he’s now using to rule the country. Plenty of GOP politicians and activists knew this all along and full well. They chose to capitulate to the terror. They are complicit. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/24/o...

As someone who is more well-versed in history than probably 99% of non-academics in this country, it gutted me to read the words "I have rape colored skin." We cannot shy away from these things, claiming sensitivities. www.nytimes.com/2020/06/26/o...

This is us. This is not who we should be, but this is what we're built upon.
I fear my tipping point into madness is "Thus is un-American" posts in response to ICE terrorizing immigrants. I beg you to open Wikipedia (I would say a book but let's start small) and read up on The Trail of Tears, Fugitive Slave Catchers, Japanese internment, Indian Boarding schools & Jim Crow

asking "who were the moneychangers" as a followup is actually a pretty savvy move, because it complicates talarico's megachristian worldview as he's trying to represent a pluralistic constituency

i mean, regrettably i have to hand it to ezra klein on this one

if you actually read the transcript, there is nothing to suggest that Klein is ignorant of this story of Jesus. in fact, he asks about it *in the context of other questions about talarico's religous beliefs*.

and the question gets talarico to talk about how he believes Judaism was corrupted!
Holy shit, has Ezra Klein been living under a rock? You don’t have to be any kind of Christian to know this reference.

It's a cross-examination - Klein knows what Talarico is going to answer, and knows that the answer is going to veer towards problematic aspects of Christian scripture & beliefs re: Judaism. Klein is not ignorant, but if you think Talarico answered this well you might be

Why are people so obsessed with seeing mugshots? Spencer Pittman probably hasn't had a photo taken yet because he is hospitalized. It's not a conspiracy

There is no meaningful difference between Spencer Pittman's invocation of "synagogue of Satan" and whatever this ostensible progressive is arguing here
And what they are doing is the exact same as the pharisees jesus actually called offspring of Satan and whitewashed tombs. Men who use religion as a tool for personal power and abuse, but have nothing to do with what it actually teaches.

Christianity in politics is only marginally better when it comes from the left. It's naive and still dangerous. It ignores that the problems with Christianity are not limited to human failures in its execution. A hard pass on this guy. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/13/o...
