Currently fiddling with Inform, as I want to use this in my Game Writing class this term

I'm a bit worried this could be too intense for a non-technical class; none of them will have dev experience

BUT. Come on. How cool is this?! The left image is the natural language code. The right is the game.

Teaching 5-Minute Marvel in game design class today as we study emergent systems! Which hero is your favorite? I always pick Ms Marvel 🥊 (Love her, plus she supports everyone)

First time to try @todoist.com as I had a bunch of schoolwork to rush, plus random tasks I never get around to doing. I liked their branding that it was a place for you to dump your to-dos so you can deal with them at the right time.

Well I just cleared today's list and it feels gooood #todoistzero

I also want to shout out to my husband who was in the audience, taking photos and videos of me onstage. He also bought me a Psyduck from the Nintendo booth to help absorb my anxiety 😂 And it worked! I brought it backstage with me and it kept me calm. If I chair again next year, I'm bringing it 🦆 4/4

I posted my official gamescom asia recap/thanks on LinkedIn, so I'll post behind-the-scenes thoughts here instead 😜

Being session chair for Day 2 Stage 2 was super cool. I did a tech rehearsal the day before, and on the day, I introduced each session, ran Q&A after, and kept the flow on time. 1/4

I’m headed to gamescom asia next week in Bangkok!

I’ll be Session Chair for Day 2 on Stage 2, for the Game Publishing and Biz Strategies track. It’s my first time chairing, and I’m looking forward to supporting the speakers and learning from our conversations together.

June and July went by in a blur. I spoke at Beyond Game Jam, did game design workshops for Globe and Philippine Game Dev Expo, and gave a game writing lecture at De La Salle University. Plus a bunch of amazing Women in Games Asia events which deserve its own post! (1/2)

It's almost three weeks since I left my job. I thought I'd be taking a break, but instead I've done a talk, a podcast recording, a game UX review, a teaching demo, and a teaching interview. Whew! 😅

Not complaining, just amused that life hasn't slowed down.

At least I snuck in 3 days at the beach ⛱️

After 11 incredible years, today is my last day at Altitude Games.

Looking back, I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve built: an international remote studio with a great work culture, making games that people love. As the last co-founder to move on, I leave knowing Altitude is in great hands.

I'm on holiday this week and I've been playing three different games:
- Tiny Tina's Wonderlands on the Steam Deck
- Proverbs on Steam desktop
- mo.co on Android

I enjoy them all equally for very different reasons 😊

Does anyone else play several games at once? What's your current list?

Is anyone not at GDC because you don't have or couldn't get a US visa? ✋ Anyway this is #WhatAGameDevLooksLike

Happy holidays everyone, however you celebrate! Going on a trip with my husband and it's our first time to travel with a Switch and a Steam Deck - never been more excited to wait at an airport 😁

When you were first starting out as a woman game dev in the 🇵🇭, what was it like? How much has changed since then?
Being the only 👧 22 yrs ago = having to laugh at male humor / endure some harassment, gamers not believing I was a dev even with my name on the box, and fighting my way to the top. (1/2)

What have been the most influential games you've played that led you to a career in game design?
While I fell into my career by accident,I loved these 3 games growing up and they taught me a lot:
- Donkey Kong Country (SNES) for level design
- The Dig (PC) for narrative
- Tetrinet (PC) for mechanics

What aspects of game dev do you like the most?
When the team has an idea ("What if we...") and days / weeks later, it's alive and playable in the build. It was just words in a conversation, and now it's in the game! Still magical to me.
That and the teamwork: it takes a village to make things happen
December 20, 2024 at 11:16 AM
Which do you do more: consume art or produce art?
Consume! Most of my job is either strategy (how do we design fun experiences for our players?) or guiding designers in their own projects. Our design team produces the art, I just assist.
I find other ways to be creative, but I wouldn't call it art

I'm a game dev and so is my 11-year old cat Alice! Here she is showing up for work
December 20, 2024 at 9:42 AM
We got a Steam Deck this year and it was a game changer - I'm actually PLAYING on Steam! Granted, I started with Dave the Diver and re-emerged in a daze six months later 😁

A bulk of these games were from judging game awards too - more of that in 2025 please!
