I know I’ve said it before but it’s almost certainly because the behaviour of JK Rowling has rarely if ever been honestly reported by traditional media, so an offline octogenarian Tom Stoppard likely had no meaningful idea about Rowling’s behaviour or its context, as remains true for most people.
I'm really enjoying all the Tom Stoppard bits, but also this. It's really hard to see how otherwise apparently perceptive and honorable people can be on the wrong side of this. And it matters so fucking much.

Ireland’s influence in non-proliferation far outweighs our size and it’s because of our neutrality. It’s maybe the most important thing we do on the world stage and our media basically never talks about it. So of course he wants us to step back, it makes it easier to argue against neutrality

I quite literally will never understand this take. I know that we always need *some* rental property available but the vast majority of people in Ireland want to own and we can't because of *drumroll please* landlords buying multiple properties to rent. Them leaving the market is what we want.

If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."
There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.
