Vandaag opnieuw zeer hoge stroomprijzen in NL / NW-Europa.

Ukraine is demanding nearly $44 billion from Russia for climate damage caused by the war, Reuters reports. Kyiv says the invasion has produced around 237 million tonnes of extra CO2, from fuel use, destroyed industry and wartime fires. It’s the first claim of its kind. Moscow has offered no comment.

Rusland is nu koploper.

Emissions in the coming decades lock in centuries of sea-level rise. A study in Nature Climate Change with VUB shows current policies add 0.3m by 2300. But strong mitigation can still avoid 0.6m of future rise, protecting coasts like Flanders. @natclimate.nature.com

Guantanamo Bay is on also on the predicted track.

This does not have to be the case – the EU power sector has relatively low fossil reliance – just 19%.

Electrification can increase EU energy security with homegrown wind and solar.
