I don't think I even knew one woman (girl) who didn't have the same dynamic in their life. Brother, or not.
They always seemed to police OUR every movement, but, somehow never saw the neighbor put his hand on our knee, or the coworker hugging us way too long... 😒

Same with the other way. Mom in the prom dress, and kid in a formal suit. Maybe even a tux. 😂
I never participated, child, or adult. But maybe at a prison, it's just a fig leaf to allow extended physical (non-sexual, hopefully) contact?
They don't really get to hold their baby. Just quick hugs.

Sometimes, yes, there are Mother-Son dances.
I've also known some single parents to stand in for whichever parent is absent.
But the creep factor has definitely surpassed the cute stuff, these days. It's not like most kids need to waltz, or tango, anyway.

I've also known some single parents to stand in for whichever parent is absent.
