This is the first Thanksgiving for Sophie & Colin Hortman without their parents, Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and Mark Hortman who were assassinated along with the family dog in an act of political murder. National guards troops were not deployed to the state in response.

Dogs. What are you gonna do?

I’m not sure I did. Changed majors three times before I landed in chemistry. Finished the BS, got a job and swore I’d never go back to school. Four years later I was applying to grad schools and told myself it was get the PhD and straight back to industry.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

So we got up Sat at 1am to get to a disc dog competition. Came back this afternoon. Gone for a total of 36 hrs. My brain feels like it took four days.

There's saints and sinners
Life's a gamble and you might lose
There's cowards and heroes
Both have been known how to break the rules
there's lovers and haters
The strong and the weak will all have their day
We're devils and angels
Which one will I be today?

Had a good teaching day on Friday. It’s parents weekend on our campus, and I get through the usual bit on Friday. Guy comes up to me after class and asks if I have a few. He introduced himself as the father of one of my students and let me know his son was sick and couldn’t make class

Had to spend some of the time this morning setting appts for an oil change and eye appt. I should clarify that the oil change is for the car and the eye appt is for me.
In both cases I had to plow through an AI menu only to have neither be capable of making an appt.

If you think you have had all the cuteness you can handle today, you need to make room for more.

Plot line for the White Collar reboot just dropped
In a minutes-long strike Sunday inside the Louvre, thieves rode a basket lift to the museum, forced a window into the Galerie d’Apollon — while tourists pressed shoulder-to-shoulder in the corridors — smashed display cases and fled with Napoleonic jewels, officials said.

Just looked it up. A group of frogs is called an army. How long til we see Trump on TV talking about seeing an army harassing ICE and its just these guys?
Also imagining DOJ lawyers in court trying to convince a judge that troops are necessary to fight this frog menace.
Things are happening at Portland's ICE facility tonight.
