And whilst US citizens received compensation for attacks on British soil, UK citizens have been left without justice.

The recent changes to allow greater transparency and reporting are an important step forward and will no doubt immediately begin to expose even more changes that need to be made.

Womens Aid have previously found multiple examples of children and women who have been murdered at the hands of known abusers following children being placed in unsafe contact arrangements.

It is unthinkable that Sara was placed in her father's custody given the serious concerns about abuse and violence that had been raised against him.

However, having worked on the family courts system over many years, I know that decisions like these are not uncommon.
