In the UK, we have some of the highest rates of child poverty in the country. Charities, politicians, parents, faith groups, unions, and thousands of ordinary people have been fighting for our kids – calling to end the cruel two-child benefit limit.

The end of the two-child benefit limit is more than a line in a budget; it means hundreds of thousands of children lifted out of poverty and families finally getting the support they need.

Today’s Budget announcement brought a huge win for the 38 Degrees community: the two child benefit limit is finally being lifted, a change that will lift 450,000 children out of poverty. 1/2

Huge news! After eight long years, the two-child benefit limit is being scrapped, lifting hundreds of thousands of kids out of poverty.

Today is proof that when we speak up, we can change lives. To the 149,924 38 Degrees supporters who signed the petition: you helped make this happen.

If Spain can do it, why can’t we?

From every corner of the country, our supporters are shouting with one voice: Tax the Rich, Fund our Public Services. Are you listening @teamlabouruk.bsky.social?

“Tax. The. Rich.” - 38 Degrees’ CEO Matthew McGregor

The public knows what they want: fair taxes, stronger public services, and the ultra-wealthy paying their share.

The Government must listen when they reveal their plans in Wednesday’s budget.

Today we delivered 65,168 voices demanding fairness.

While rents and mortgage costs have soared, banks have made record profits. A 38% levy could raise over £14 billion, money that should go back into our public services and communities. 1/2

A damning new report says 23,000 lives were lost because of Boris Johnson’s chaotic Covid decisions. Yet he’s rewarded with £115,000 a year for life just for being a former Prime Minister.

Bereaved families deserve better. It’s time for the Government to end this allowance. 1/2

NEW: The Government has pledged to freeze rail fares in 2026 for the first time in 30 years. Long overdue or not far enough?

Rail fares to be frozen in England next year
Regulated fares, which include season tickets and off-peak returns, will not see annual price rises for the first time in 30 years, the government announces.

With only a few days before the budget, we need to spread our message far and wide.

Forward and share to send a message to the Chancellor loud and clear.

All of us get a say in what sort of country we want to be. We can spread fear and division like those making our NHS staff feel unsafe. Or we can spread hope and solidarity like 38 Degrees supporter Anne.

Patients are still waiting for vital care and our NHS is struggling as the recovery plan has stalled.

We desperately need a Budget that puts patients first by taxing the ultra-rich to fund the NHS properly.

Kemi Badenoch vows to bring back the two-child benefit cap if reversed. Scrapping the policy would pull 350,000 children out of poverty.

Why are billionaires scared of fairness?

📣 Hundreds of thousands of us are telling the Government: TAX THE SUPER RICH

Today, alongside Greenpeace, Oxfam, Patriotic Millionaires, Tax Justice UK and others, we delivered 724,000 signatures to the Treasury demanding fair taxes to fix our NHS, fund our schools and tackle the climate crisis.

It’s time to call their bluff.

This budget is a choice - will the Government side with the people or with the ultra-rich?

Last week, 3,865 supporters wrote to the Chancellor asking her to make the richest in society pay their fair share. Rachel Reeves, are you listening?

This is absolutely shocking! Southern Water can’t be allowed to get away with this.

A taskforce at COP30 has proposed a "solidarity levy" on premium flyers, saying it could bring £68bn a year for climate initiatives.

But the International Air Transport Association said the idea is “crazy”.

What do YOU think?

Would you trust him with your teeth?

Desperate people are having to resort to DIY dentistry as current funding is only enough for half the population to access an NHS dentist.

The Horizon IT system directly led to more than 900 wrongful prosecutions of sub-postmasters.

The news that the Post Office have just agreed to pay them £41million to keep using Horizon - whilst the victims are still fighting to get the compensation - is an outrage.
