Please: We need to help caregivers understand that autism is inborn, meaning that trying to “cure” autism will not help their child one bit—though it will likely traumatize that child while warping their parents’ attitude towards them.

re that whole "autism should be considered as more than one syndrome" thing...privately yes, publicly no. publicly the weird people need to present as united a front as possible. privately we need to know as much about OURSELVES as is useful for OURSELVES in terms of OURSELVES. Venn Diagram Pride.

Women are told that we aren’t ‘this’ or enough of ‘that’ ALL THE TIME.

Because of that or in spite of that, we become more confident, resilient, and/or self-aware.

I want women to give that same energy back to men. TELL THEM ABOUT THEMSELVES!

Them: You don't look autistic

Me: My autism doesn't really look like anything. It's mainly just me being anxious about things. Can't eat safe food. Anxious. Someone too close to me. Anxious. Have to do small talk. Anxious.

Them: You don't look anxious

Me: I hide it REALLY well

There is no clean list of autistic traits that one can neatly separate from trauma.

Autism and trauma often grow together.

Because being autistic in an unsafe world is traumatic.

So the real question isn’t - Is this autism or PTSD?

It’s, what does my nervous system need now?”

No person gets to control other people
you want to control somebody, have a kid, see how that works out..
get a dog or a cat, see how long before they run away and/or bite your ass
get over yourselves, no adult needs another "mom"

Did you know that ABA therapy’s widespread adoption “was not driven by consensus among developmental pediatricians, but by insurance mandates, billing incentives, and a cultural push for normalization”?

welp, here’s even more confirmation that we’re going full North Korea dictator mode over here in America
Requiring foreign visitors to hand over 5 years of social media isn’t “security,” it’s unchecked government control.

All-seeing surveillance systems don’t make us safer. They are in direct opposition to our civil liberties.

Autism is a spectrum because it includes autistic people who have no visible signs of autism, autistic people who have every stereotypical visible sign of autism & autistic people who fall everywhere in between.

We all exist. We are all valid. And we are all deserving of support.

Lockdowns etc… took away the coping and masking mechanisms of many Autistic and ADHD folk.

This may have been the first time they realised they’d been masking their entire lives, and their traits suddenly became super pronounced.

That doesn’t mean lockdowns caused it…

Fellow disabled friends...

You are not broken.
The world is.

If you put a working battery in a broken appliance, it won't make the appliance work even though the battery does.

You are not the problem.
The world is just a VERY broken place. ❤️

Autism is when your brain responds to "microscopic" differences as if they are assaults on your existence, triggering such intense anxiety that you become completely nonfunctional.

What is autism?

Autism happens in the brain.

It's not a bunch of observable traits.

It's a PROCESSING difference...

In the brain.

I don’t romanticise autism.

But I’m also done pretending the real problem is us.

It’s the hostile environments, the absurd expectations, and the constant demand to be palatable.
