#ActuallyAutistic educator, writer, bibliophile who already loves your dog(s). Opinions are mine. Out now, my book <The Present Professor>! https://www.oupress.com/9780806194691/the-present-professor/
Lee! I've been meaning to send you an email and time blindness/object impermanence has been working against me. Now I see this and won't tell myself to circle back later (I won't). If you ever want to work on something together neurodivergence-related, I want this!!!

As a political scientist, I can definitely confirm this. See: Altemeyer; Stenner.

Thank you, Cassandra! No statement will ever be perfect, but as a collective we have a lot of knowledge and experience. I just wish we had answers to the questions I posed.

Wish you were coming to the POD conference, but sadly, there are many structural barriers for folks to attend this year. ☹️🫠

Not yet, but we did have some discussion about possibilities. I know for sure it won't overlap with the Grading Conference. We all kind of scatter after the Virtual Gathering ends, and it takes us a while to recover bandwidth and get our acts together again for the summer.

YAY! I'm bringing your book so you can sign it, so beware that I plan to stalk you!

Ooof. I'm thinking about the many, many students I've taught over the years who reacted to discussions about civil liberties with, "I don't care if the govt has data on me. I'm not breaking any laws." I'd try to imagine this data confluence, but this is EVEN WORSE than anything I imagined.

If you're reading this and you're tired of writing stuff that only five academics will ever read, and likely with an eye toward kneecapping your arguments, please consider this a permission slip to write things that make you feel something other than exhaustion or dread or imposter-ish.

Cate, no joke, I saw this post and thought the exact same thing. I do have fond memories of The Outdoors, but it's not a place I need to spend time exploring in this phase of life, it seems. ⛔
