#ActuallyAutistic educator, writer, bibliophile who already loves your dog(s). Opinions are mine. Out now, my book <The Present Professor>! https://www.oupress.com/9780806194691/the-present-professor/
I posted this on the Engaged Learning Collective today re: my concerns around revisions to the vision/mission/values of my professional association. Several conversations helped me refine my thinking--thanks to those who spoke with me. engagedlearningcollective.substack.com/p/the-pod-ne...

I haven't read this book, but I feel like this summary gives Maurice a *bit* too much of a pass on his hubristic assumption that isolation at sea was a good thing.

@hcrichardson.bsky.social writes about the Constitution missing some (eyebrow-raising) text "due to a coding error," and I'm genuinely baffled (perhaps naively) by the onslaught of alternative-reality news assaulting me daily. heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/august-6-2...

I just read the DOJ guidance on "unlawful discrimination." The following recommendation is toward the end, and now I'm confused, because I thought 'inclusive' was not allowed...?
.
Random Q: Wouldn't this guidance seem to prohibit single-sex Greek orgs supported by gov't $$? Or am I misreading?

Summertime means the puffin loafing ledge is once again streaming from Seal Island, #Maine, so I'm intermittently peeping in on my favorite birds/animals. 😍

Thanks to @drtolunoah.bsky.social for the fantastic mug featuring #TheWorkshopWheel -- a giveaway I won at her epic book launch a couple of weeks ago! It arrived today and I love it!

This is a crop of a sign at baggage claim at the ROC airport, named for Frederick Douglass. And while they mean identification, I think everyone needs to check their id, too. There's waaaayyyy too much id in the world right now.

I'm lucky that this is my life today, somehow -- and I'm massively grateful to be among thoughtful, caring, welcoming community college educators. These are my people. 🥰💜

Listened to this ep this morning and just very much appreciated the clarity and levity that @dahlialithwick.bsky.social and @mjsdc.bsky.social always bring into my ears. Also, every college president needs to read Georgetown Law's deans letter to the Interim US Attorney for DC. 👀

The Chronicle sent out a reader survey today. Since I've been fuming about their editorial decisions a lot lately, I just went for it. Here's what I wrote in the final question box, soliciting thoughts I wanted to share with them. @chronicle.com
