How bonkers is this?

At least $2B could be transferred to a trust fund. How is it governed, by whom? FOI answer. “no discrete document exists.”

Labor has shut down migration and refugee matters as an election issue by banishing vulnerable people who can’t vote to a remote Pacific Island.
No trust deed. Billions of tax dollars to be spent without oversight by Nauru - Michael West
The Labor Government's deal with Nauru to resettle unwanted refugees will cost Australian taxpayers billions, spent on who knows what.

The title of this article captured my interest.

So applicable to Australia as well; though we haven't yet reached the US's extremes.

If you have a sense that most economists are disconnected from reality and talk theoretical bullshit, you are correct.

If you would like to hear from economists who are grounded in reality, these talks are for you.

Americans are learning the difference between normal Christianity and the ethnosupremacist, state-backed fascist weaponisation of Christianity, in the same way that they have learned the difference between normal Judaism and Zionism.

On Saturday, over 70 people enjoyed a Picnic in the Park in aid of the former Wonthaggi Secondary College.

There were many thoughts and ideas of what we would like to see.

To realise the site's amazing potential we need funding from federal and / or state governments.

The UN voted on a Resolution on Denouncing & Combating Nazism.

The resolution has been voted on every year since 2012, where it overwhelmingly passed 129-3, with only the US Canada & Palau voting against it.

The US remains the only country to vote "no" to the resolution every time since 2012.

Let's do an experiment.

On one island we put 200 billionaires.

On the other 200 workers (nurses, builders, teachers etc).

Let's see which one thrives.

UPS announced 48,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $24M last year.

Intel announced 20,000 layoffs. Its new CEO's pay package is valued at nearly $69M.

I guess you could say that the US is certainly *one of* the greatest countries in the world for:

- inequality & poverty
- billionaires directing public policy
- gun violence against children
- billionaires directing disinformation
- bad health
- crap electoral system
- delusions of self-importance

When Australians complain about cost of domestic airfare, it’s worthwhile considering what govt has & hasn’t done.
Federal Govt privatised airports - making them regional monopolies.
And Federal Govt hasn’t invested in VFT projects that would compete on several air routes = protection racket
