Hoping this framework will be useful to researchers, leaders, & policymakers, at a time when the special ed workforce (& the teacher workforce generally!) is really struggling.

Finally, we comprehensively defined the many responsibilities with which special educators are charged, as well as the resources they report relying on to fulfill those responsibilities (i.e., working conditions subconstructs).

We also articulated what they are NOT - closely related constructs that have sometimes been conflated with working conditions:

To measure & improve them, we need a clear definition of what working conditions are. Drawing on COR theory, prior research & qual data, we developed the following definition:
