I'm whatever the opposite of a shitposter is.

I just want to find out about books and other forms of art, and have conversations about animals and plants and people doing their best in this hellscape.
New gig starts tomorrow and I’m excited, but also more anxious than usual.

Can’t afford more time off to recover from the toxic job I quit, so back on the horse I go!

Tiny birds were VERY ready for this feeder top up! Getting a dozen at a time but managed to capture a few.

Male and female pheasant stroll through to snack on whatever drops; haven’t gotten a photo of them yet.

And next door’s little black cat sits at a distance and watches them all

Another attempt to make my spine behave.

I chose injections in both sides, despite the risk of both legs going wobbly for a day.

No legs got wobbly, I feel bruised, and maybe I will improve?

Also stopped for veggie sushi on the way home and got to see the beautiful moors en route. Adventures!

Kagi+Orion (search engine you pay for vs being the product & privacy-focused browser) are really good so far.

I also like that my new (used) iPhone lets me toggle browsers and use any source of truth for site logins.

Not the Linux phone of my dreams yet, but slight improvement.

My brain has decided I’ve had enough downtime and the only way to be unemployed now is to keep tackling the backlog of house chores.

At least I’m getting a lot of audiobook time as I shift and scrub things…

Drifty in-between time while I’m unemployed.

Snow let up so I made it out to the garden. Plenty to harvest, & even ripe tomatoes in the greenhouse!

Watching YouTube talks on subjects I’m interested in. And ofc always reading.

Mask will be up soon enough. Now I have a little time to just be me.

Read this (then of course read Hild and Menewood if you have not)

Seriously. Top of your TBR
This is such a lovely, perceptive, beautifully conceived critical appraisal that even if you never plan to read my novels, you should read the review essay. 💕 Deeply interesting in its own right!
You should start with _Hild_ and you should then read _Menewood_. strangehorizons.com/wordpress/no...

Unfollow or block every single person who uses body shaming or homophobia to attack anyone, including fascists.

It’s just lazy. And wrong.

Fash are such easy targets, we can all do better.

And the attack never lands on them. It lands on the fat/old/queer person who reads it.

Me: it’s all muscle memory now, I can play the post-ending version of Hades 2 on painkillers after a hard day deep-cleaning the house. I want to finish the story, it’ll be fine.

Game: surprise! You now randomly drop into the first game’s boss fight no matter how few boons you have

No human on earth should go without access to nourishing food, a safe home, and adequate healthcare

Borders should be abolished

Coercive hierarchy should be dismantled at every opportunity

(Ok maybe I’m actually 357 woke opinions in a trenchcoat)
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

Everything about SARS-CoV-2 weakens us as a species. Population-level immune dysregulation leading to both reactivation of latent pathogens and creating niches for new ones; the politicisation of our response regressing public health and massively amplifying anti-vax ideology.
