I did have to laugh when I got the tub out of the fridge this morning 🤣

@mmadventures.bsky.social I have tried the recipe! Made the dough last night and let it rise in the fridge overnight. The buns are doing their final rise before baking now.

A went ice-skating with friends at an outdoor rink today. As much as I love ice skating, my feet have been painful of late... So I went swimming at the pool across the road. I lost count after 30 laps of the 25m pool but according to my Fitbit, I swam 1,125m! Pretty proud of myself.

The kitchen smells like a Norwegian bakery. Lovely soft texture - refrigerating the dough overnight made it quite easy to roll out. The taste is a bit underwhelming - I think I'd use more cardamom and probably also some cinnamon next time. Not a total faff to make and the recipe makes six.

This tiny bundle arrived fifteen years ago today. We hadn't even built the cot because I was so sure she'd arrive late.

She did not.

She arrived early, quickly, yelling indignantly at the world. She is still a force to be reckoned with and I am so freaking proud of her. Happy birthday, M 🎉🎂🎁

What perfect album came out the year you turned 16?

I was still more into Nirvana and Green Day at that age, but this would have to be my favourite album released that year.

Had a conversation with a student a couple of weeks ago which resulted in us plotting an afternoon tea in our double lesson today. I made GF scones for the coeliac student and brought cream, tea, cups, plates etc. My student baked a big batch of scones and brought a jar of jam. #EduSky

I usually get our pumpkins from the roadside stand just outside town... But had very little time so headed to Rewe spent 2,07€ on these two Hokkaido red pumpkins (99c per kilo! Bargain!) and the girls carved them.

Where we stayed in Gdańsk in summer last year was right near the shipyard. My Dziadek had a Solidarność poster on his wall in Australia and because of that it was the first international political movement I was conscious of.

I went and bought a chain for it yesterday 🙂 I feel like it would look better on a leather braid but it's her 50th so a chain it is. She can change it if she likes.

My cousin, who is my closest relative in age, passed away today. She was declared cancer free in March but she was told on 4 September that it had metastasized. Six weeks later she's gone. Mum and my sister saw her yesterday and said that she was peaceful and was receiving good care.

Day 2 ✅ pretty happy with the finished product! 71,65€ for the materials, 99€ for the course fee, hours of frustration (I maintain that soldering is terrifying)... Resulting in a unique gift for my big sister 🙂

Day 1 of my silver jewellery making course ✅
Chose to work with a piece of jade - it will be a gift for my sister's upcoming 50th birthday.
Soldering is terrifying (but fun) and silver is, oddly enough, much harder to work with than my usual medium (yarn... Or fabric).

Went to the Vaterstetten Wollmarkt today. Very proud of myself for sticking to my plan of ONLY buying one skein of yarn (because I have SO MUCH YARN already). This is going to be a pair of lace socks

New German word of the day: Mahlzeitauslassversuch (meal + leave out + test). The process by which the clinic finds out if they have the basal settings correct on A's Omnipod 5. She can only eat raw veggies for five hours and has to take her blood sugar every hour during that time.
