Yep.

Anyone who actually understands beer would ask for “table beer” if they wanted a sessionable, low-alcohol, fermented-barley beverage.

“Normal beer” is like “coffee, black” — it’s a low-effort description that sweeps a wealth of nuance under the rug.

HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN. TO BE THE PLACE WHERE THE FALLING ANGEL MEETS THE RISING APE.

"Tooth fairies? Hogfathers? Little—"

YES. AS PRACTICE. YOU HAVE TO START OUT LEARNING TO BELIEVE THE LITTLE LIES.

"So we can believe the big ones?"

YES. JUSTICE. MERCY. DUTY. THAT SORT OF THING.

I've shopped for a decade or two under the philosophy that there are no sales, just brief periods when things aren't as overpriced.

I have only felt more and more justified in that philosophy over that time period.

Someone said today is “pre-covid regular prices” and that hit me.

Yeah … batteries today have come a long-ass way.

And yeah, this felt like a solution in search of a problem … which isn’t to say it doesn’t have a potential use-case, but … but that isn’t extracting milliwatts of power from soil.

But this idea felt like “Solar, but not as bright”

IDK … I’m weird … I like the idea of passive heating, cooling, and ventilation systems …

I like the idea of harnessing heat to help make things more efficient … I will rant about bermed housing, solar chimneys, trombe walls, greenroofs, and so many things …

I respect their trying to find a use for the Stirling Engine ….

But … whyyyyyy are they trying to tap Earth Soil Temp, instead of the waste heat generated by so much humanity?

Like … heat is the end state of thermodynamics, and humans make a ton of it, so use it to improve existing things.

Maybe that’s my mistake for reading /r/conservative and listening to conservative mouthpieces at regular intervals …

But the conservative perspective seems to involve a lot of bootstraps and harsher punishments to deter criminals …

… and very little empathy.

So …
… like …
What democratic politicians, parties, or groups do you see saying, “Fuck male homelessness” or generally not taking these issues seriously?

My observation is that people on the left are way more invested in reducing homelessness, improving prisoner rights, even equal custody …

Like … if I were a malicious actor, and I wanted to build a narrative that the Democratic Party didn’t care about men, picking a prominent media figure like Newsom talking about male suicide and unleashing a campaign of comments mocking male depression/suicide seems like a good start.
