The Plot to Enslave America
Note that Roger Stone refers to Prospera, the Network State city in Honduras, as a "freedom city."

Trump wants to build ten of these cities on federal land, and Stone makes it clear that these fascist cities are, indeed, the Network State.
Why Did Trump Pardon the Former Honduran President? Follow the Tech Bros.

“Próspera is an example of the tech-right concept of the network state, a phrase coined by Silicon Valley venture capitalist Balaji Srinivasan.”

Supposedly we’re experiencing "no inflation". These people are bringing the receipts with actual grocery prices. We are paying significantly more for groceries and these prices are NOT going down, they’re going up, up, up!

we're seeing a reduction in labor demand driven by small businesses

in aggregate this is mostly but not entirely being matched by falling labor supply due to lower net immigration

but vulnerable groups of workers are bearing the brunt: unemployment is much higher for Black and young workers
ADP shows private hiring has essentially ground to a halt overall in recent months led by job losses among small firms

As @gregsargent.bsky.social points out this gets quite a bit wrong. It falls victim to what Matt Sleat descrbes as the misrepresentation of liberalism that pervades a lot of post-liberal takes. They assimilate all versions of liberalism together and ignore the more egalitarian strands...
Contra Ross Douthat here, a foundational idea of Bidenomics was that Trumpist authoritarianism was partly fueled by legit grievances over neoliberalism. This heavily shaped their industrial policies. As always, Ross erases the last half century of lib egalitarian theory from his diagnosis. So odd.

This is disgusting, cowardly garbage. Let trans women play tennis. Everyone who entertained 'just asking questions about men in women's sports' should understand that this was never, and is is not, about sports, but pretending it was sure did pave the way to erasing trans people from public life.
USTA bans trans athletes from competing as women to comply with Trump executive order
The national tennis governing body's policy change was made with no announcement.

This is one of those things that I think is quietly important – when these people are talking shit about cities, Portland or Minneapolis or New York or Charlotte or wherever, you have to loudly say, “no, fuck you, you’re lying, that town and its people whip ass and you’re the asshole”

Very tough choices, this is going to be a thread. I’ll have to give top spot to two mashup projects: Bands FC’s Sheffield Wednesday x Pulp jersey, and Luc Samanski’s Detroit Pistons x Pokémon jersey

Our enemies are cowards and we're going to defeat them.
Do not assume that everything they set out to do is inevitable. They have been successfully fought on multiple fronts, from courtroom wins that have actually stuck to city and state governments that haven't backed down, to activists in the streets organizing against their violence.

These people had flags made saying “fuck your feelings” and “make liberals cry again”, of course they’re cruel bastards. You’re all just shocked because you didn’t realize that when you put cruelty in positions of cruelty it doesn’t let up

Tonight’s TN-7 performance would put these seats in play for Democrats—and potentially the largest majority in decades.

The Democratic caucus was last at 260 seats after the 1990 midterm (267 + Bernie Sanders), and at 270 seats heading into the 1980 election (272)
PVI =/= margin—it’s measured relative to the party’s vote share. So R +16 there would mean the Republican would get 66% of the vote in a 50/50 environment. TN-7 was R +10 though, so this would suggest anything below R +7 or 8 is a likely Democratic pickup—a resulting margin not seen in decades

TN07 is a story about gerrymandering: the GOP cracked Nashville into 3 districts when it redrew the 2022 map, destroying the Dem seat there.

Fast-forward: a section of Nashville, which just 5 years ago had a Dem representative, is now voting Dem by huge margins but it's been designed to not matter.
