This is me too but in my mother's defense she absolutely hated having to be the family cook, hated cooking in general, and drowned everything she made in ketchup, so frankly improving on her recipes isn't really any kind of victory on my part.

Typescript is my favorite kind of project: you see a radioactive pile of code that everyone is still forced to use, and you figure out a way to seal it in enough concrete that you can safely build on top of it.
