it’s mad to me how big tech and AI companies dumps their trash into the world and it is up to everyone else (academics, civil society, educators, regulators, etc) to deal with it…. to assess the merit/usefulness, clean up their mess, and come up with alternatives

Eaton & Palisades fire damage inspection data trickling out at recovery.lacounty.gov. Look at maps / look up an address to find out if a structure has been damaged or destroyed. The county is updating as they complete inspections, there are still a lot of addresses without info posted yet.

on my walk thru los feliz today i saw a little yellow goldfinch hopping near the sidewalk. before i had fully registered the goldfinch, a cooper's hawk dove in and snatched it, leaving behind a small swirl of feathers

a week ago when i woke up to election reality, i was in germany and i felt sick all day but also felt resolved to come back to the states (as i'd already planned) in the hope that i could be helpful. this resolve wanes with every new elon related development. its just so stupid.
