Last Tuesday's indie horror event at Book Culture LIC was the first time I'd ever personally seen Spiritus Ex Machina in a physical bookstore! I read an excerpt from "Wormspace" and ended up doodling custom despair worms in several books I signed.

Always nice to catch up with my cat neighbors. 1: Bodega cat Oreo, my kittens' dad, who gave me a lot of sniffs and rubs: either he recognized his kids' scent or just smelled catnip in my bag. 2: Pet supply shop cat Dina, who is about my kittens' age and gave me slow blinks from behind the counter

Not just modern-day fundamentalists either: back in the 19th century when anesthetic was invented, quite a lot of the medical establishment believed it should be denied for women in labor because the Bible decreed they must "bring forth in pain" due to the sin of Eve.
This is one of the weirder bits of fundamentalist rhetoric. There's an school of thought in several churches including some old Catholic ones that women are supposed to suffer because of Eve. I am not telling you it makes sense. I am telling you he's parroting a line that is a giant warning sign
