i feel part of my duty as a historian is to remind people that the past sucked for a multitude of reasons and you don't want to live there

what she'll get unfortunately won't bankrupt them but i do like to fantasise about tech bros breaking rocks in a yard and the guard counts off some pennies for their pay into an envelope, ostentatiously doesn't hand it to them but sends it to a 24yo barista who wrote a romantasy about space vampires

my wife (a literary translator) has had 18 of her books used for LLM training by tech giants with hitherto zero recompense other than the assertion it would be 'too expensive' to pay her for her labour and that she should be happy their technology is trying to make her obsolete. fuck these parasites
