About 12 days ago I finished driving best friend to his post-surgical appointments with back to back trips to San Antonio. I'm still crashing. According to best friend, that was ages ago and I should be better by now.

This is the first year I can't afford to get gifts for my family for Christmas. I don't usually do huge gifts anyway, just something small and personal, one per person for immediate family, often crafted. But this fall was worse than expected. It's getting me down. I'll think of something.

It's 51°F here in Corpus Christi. A pleasant winter day by any other area's standards. Fuckin freezing by ours. The dog is thrilled and playing in the door/out the door. The cat has decided to tear the house apart until I turn 85°F weather back on. It's only three days you two, settle down already.

My first bread machine loaf (from last Thursday, it's half eaten by now). Oatmeal Buttermilk, because that's what I had on hand. I forgot how good homemade bread is.
Old fashioned oats and dried buttermilk for easy storage and little to no spoilage over time while I experiment with baking bread.

I know things are terrible for everyone actually but increasingly, I am aware of how profoundly not OK I am and I should at this point do a lot more than seeing my therapist, but $200 and I can have four therapy appointments, which is something.

I don’t have a whole lot of advice for people younger than me but the earlier in life you stop worrying about what other people will think and just wholeheartedly enjoy the stuff you like the happier you’ll be

My friend lives in Michigan where it is already getting quite cold. Or so I hear. He has chickens, geese, ducks, and goats and jas been shopping around for warm sweaters or pj's for them to wear this winter. Being a knitter, my first thought is of course: omg! I must knit a sweater for a duck!
