I left daily journalism in Chicago in 2018 during a wave of disinvestment that left me pessimistic. But when Homeland Security brought its traveling terror show to Chicago, local news outlets stepped up and did great work. The journalists in the Twin Cities are doing the same.

Can we please protect the children?
I remember being a kid and being told to go back to Africa. And that was before Trump. Kids right now have it so much worse. The cruelty is louder, more public, more sanctioned.

The 15 richest people in America saw their collective wealth jump nearly $1 trillion during Trump's year back in office.
