I finished it today. What a fun walk down memory lane, remembering Aunt Sue (who I miss desperately) and reconnecting with my inner 12yo.

It was a book from 1979 (lol at 90s in my original query) about a plucky 22yo orphan woman who bought an antique store, found a hurdy gurdy and then set off to solve a murder mystery.

A few weeks ago I thought to Google "90s mystery book about a hurdy gurdy" (the only thing I could remember as being part of the plot). It worked!

When people disparage exvangelicals or anyone who has had to set firm boundaries with their evangelical parents I wish I could communicate how we were born into systems that we have no control over. The rules of the game are comply with the veneer of goodness, suffer silently, or leave.
