A review by Brown and colleagues (2020) examined the association between family relationships and the health and wellbeing of these young people. They found that those with parents who are supportive (both generally as well as specifically about gender identity), warm and caring, and who they can communicate with directly and honestly had better health and wellbeing (Brown et al., 2020). The health improvements for transgender and gender diverse young people associated with supportive parents included (Brown et al., 2020): 1. reduced anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, disordered eating symptoms, self-harm and suicidal ideation 2. greater quality of life, life satisfaction and self-esteem 3. reduced risk of homelessness 4. improved sexual self-efficacy and consistent condom use 5. reduced risk of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). However, for parents to provide this support to transgender or gender diverse young people, they themselves may also need assistance and support (Riggs et al., 2020).

Beyond time to sanction Israel for their genocide, war crimes, and creating the largest cohort of child amputees in history. It has to stop. It must stop.

The longer this continues, the more we lose of our humanity, collectively and individually.

Did my best. Hopefully some tangible positive changes come out of this inquiry.

Especially within the NSW Dept of Education. Our trans kids are not consistently safe in schools, and that’s not ok.

Teachers need help, guidance, and direction to keep our kids safe.

Watched a fantastic film yesterday: A Young Woman and the Sea.

Searched Trudy Ederle to learn more about her.

Turns out excuses created for why she never entered into cishet marriage are same as excuses recycled by anti-trans activists today about trans youth (parents fault, disabled, etc).

Still so much to do, horrific it sometimes looks like it’s getting worse, not better, but us parents are not going ANYWHERE!!

Please help me understand why NRx/MAGA (fascists using Curtis Yarvin’s blog theories) genuinely believe that if the U.S. withdraws support from Europe, then the majority of the people of the EU will suddenly share their toxic ideologies, and dismiss the EU’s otherwise long-held humanitarian values?
Highlighted passage talking about Curtis Yarvin’s work states “Trump should give Russia a free hand not just in Russian speaking territories but all the way to the English Channel. The goal of a Trumpist foreign policy in Europe is to withdraw American influence from Europe. This will guarantee the defeat of liberalism on the Continent”.

As a fellow parent of trans kids, I get it. They keep coming for our kids, but we will never stop protecting them.

I’m feeling so overwhelmed right now.

Will be somewhat cathartic to see thousands of people gather around Australia this weekend to stand up for democracy, evidence-based healthcare, and trans adolescents in Queensland.

Hope you’ve made plans for this coming Saturday that include standing up for democracy in this country.

No govt should ever come between a patient and their (literal) *team* of multidisciplinary healthcare specislists, because that govt doesn’t care for science/evidence/best-practice.

Our kiddo’s will often do anything to avoid school toilets growing up. They can be very dangerous places.

A privileged ability by my son to access medical affirmation when he was an adolescent literally saved his life.

Puberty blockers and hormones are completely safe for trans adolescent’s, with research continuously demonstrating affirmation is best practice for trans youth.

What would be really great is if the Australian curriculum included mandatory age-appropriate education on the LGBTSBIQA+ community for all students, all ages.

In just a generation social media would be considerably safer in this country.
