As the climate data for 2025 continues to be released, it's time to update various data visualisations.

First - the global climate stripes for 1850-2025. A third darkest red stripe is added.

The last 11 years have been the warmest 11 years on record. A sequence that is unlikely to be broken soon.

"Offshore wind is still one of the best deals for consumers" Ana Musat of Renewable UK explains why in 1 minute.

Wholesale prices for new:

🏭 gas: over £100/MWhr

☢️ nuclear: around £128/MWhr

🌬️ wind: around £86/MWhr (below £94/MWhr they save money off bills, above are cost-neutral for billpayers)

You could call this the "cost of net-zero" – as long as you think the fossil alternatives are free

(CAPEX) Free petrol cars!
(CAPEX) Free gas-fired power stations!
(OPEX) Free petrol!
(OPEX) Free electricity from coal and gas!

Wouldn't that be nice

To be clear, this is the total cost to install and run the UK energy system

CAPEX = buying energy-related equipment (an electric car, a windfarm, a heat pump for your home)
OPEX = paying to keep it running (electricity, staff, servicing etc)

(see NESO table EA.A.03)

In other words, you should assume that they are as bad for Trump as they could conceivably be.
