Crochet. Crochet. CROCHET!
Five years old.
I'm speechless, simply speechless.

Most days I simply can't think of anything to post, it all seems rather small on my end. I am not one living through anything close to any of the worst! I can't imagine—

I’m here, technically.
But I do sometimes regret not becoming a remote lighthouse keeper when I had the chance. (Long story.)

I’d genuinely rather deal with sideways rain than mad kings and their wake.

Am I the only one who cannot sleep? I can't imagine I am the only one tonight.

The AI creep in this industry is exhausting 😬
I’ve saved enough, and honestly? I could retire, travel a bit, take my mum along while she’s still healthy enough to enjoy it. That feels more human than whatever this is becoming.

If you’re wondering whether I’m okay: I just argued with a semicolon and -lost-.

Thinking about another career change today. Watching folks in my industry cosy up to AI is… disheartening. So now I’m daydreaming about opening a wee knit shop. Or wandering the land as an itinerant sorceress. Haven't decided which yet, but both come with scarves, so...

Have you ever heard of Betty Webster? I hadn't until recently, and she co-discovered the first black hole ever found! Here's her story, to honor her memory and fantastic accomplishment.

Mum will not stop making "Bubba" jokes and I am not entirely sure how I feel about it all.

As an editor & mentor, I’ve been watching young writers lose heart by sheer force of watching their futures get strip-mined by #AI that learned from them, for free.
Bright, passionate writers look at their dreams and say, “what’s the point?” If creativity isn't viable, culture collapses. 🧵1~

Took a peek southward last night and let out the tiniest sigh of relief. Like, barely audible. The storm’s still hovering, but there was this one shy beam of sunlight that made it through. We’ll see if it holds.

She was known as "America's Sweetheart" but Mary Pickford was proudly Canadian.
Born in Toronto, her fame was second only to Charlie Chaplin during the Silent Film Era. She was also a trailblazer in many ways in Hollywood.
This is her story.

Mum told me today that Tom Daley apparently is heavily into knitting. I can’t stop imagining him diving into the water wearing one of those monstrously long bathing suits from the 1910s, which were knitted wool. I think he should.

Was a rough night for mum, she was in some discomfort, so we stayed up watching TV. I’d always avoided the BBC Pride and Prejudice (Austen adaptations never quite translate for me), but now I understand the Barbie joke far too well. And now, naturally, I’m the one who can’t sleep.

Kinda behind the curve on those new terms of service with the bad phrasing. Are they still going ahead? Been all ‘mum time’ lately, and honestly it’s hard even being on social media with everything going on nowadays.

Show of hands...
Who else has managed to get their mum hooked on crocheting?

She told me, “I refuse to do old lady things.”
And I said, “Mum, think of it this way: I’m the old lady now. You’re just keeping me company.”

Seems to have worked out alright.

So, mum’s got me hooked on Gabaldon. Again. 📚 This is terrible news for my productivity, ‘cause now I’ll be side-eyeing those books for hours when I should be reading other stuff. Send help. Or tea.
