I work in a converted agricultural warehouse from 1930’s with an entirely wood roof. It’s beautiful, but I’m going to heed this warning and get the eff out from under it.

Palisades fire getting increasingly hellscape-y. The one consolation being the wind is pushing the billows out over the Pacific. This was about an hour ago.

The Pallisades fire from my office. It’s getting close.

There’s something meta in reading about social media in a print newspaper. Topical as well. The moderation issue is a real problem. I use a moderation labeler to flag and hide comments from AI bots, but why can’t Bluesky give us that?

When in LA, stop by Arcana bookstore in Culver City. They sell nothing but art books, and they have an impressive selection. Here are some pick-ups I made today. That’s Wendy O. On the cover of the second pic.

This is not the punchy Comedy Central Steven Colbert of Poetry Seidel of Going Fast. This Seidel is a debonair gorilla on a Ducati pounding his chest at death, flummoxed by millennial depression he can’t see in himself, contemplating his legacy as a poet… like a sincere Seidel might?

Can’t recommend this anthology from Willow Springs Books enough. Published in 2022. 12 contemporary poets with individual collections from the Acme Poem Company published over the past 20 years. Some are impossible to find.

Just finished this collection for a workshop I’m taking through UCLA. Less of a collection than a singular book length poem, but each page or so stands alone. Check it out if you’re doing the metamodern thing. Or just check it out.
