The term “Lynchian” is embarrassingly overused, but more than halfway through this, the surrealism often reminds me of the experience of watching Inland Empire - the narrative collapsing on itself just when you think it’s going to take hold. Written in 1980.
The second Viriconium book, A Storm of Wings, basically uses “what if the ghost guys from Return of the King actually came back to life and just lived among the rest of Middle Earth?” and plays with how that would fuck everyone up.
Now reading, what a duo.

It’s about what I expected. Watchable airport junk. I mostly was more entertained by the audience; the husbands who suddenly perked up whenever Sydney whipped her tits out and the teenage girls who filmed every sex scene and excitedly tiktoked in the parking lot to the end credits song.
Let’s see how this Housemaid movie is…

This was never gonna work because you can make a comics movie with anyone, but Blade is a Wesley Snipes movie.

In the “no shit Sherlock” side of things, I imagine she didn’t even see that guy standing in front of her car…probably looking at the dumbfuck at her window as she tried to pull away. Obviously we have a duty of care when we drive, but who couldn’t understand her panic?

It's an MTV simulator with almost 30,000 videos, organized by decade, with special sections for Headbanger's Ball and Yo! MTV Raps. This is so good.

Because Michael Moorcock was right (I love The Lord of the Rings to the point where I’d get sworn in on it maybe, but Tolkien was the kind of conservative catholic that got pissed that the sermons weren’t in Latin anymore)

Sebastian Stan is a fine actor and I’m sure he’ll be great in the part if that’s what he’s playing. But still…
I’m sure it’ll zag in a worthwhile way, but I hate that the rumor mill seems to be pointing to The Batman Part 2 doing The Long Halloween in some form. Beyond that I think that comic sucks balls, Nolan already covered the only worthwhile part that ground.

Next Gen
Given that apparently the Stranger Things finale was meh (idk, didn't watch it, just the scuttlebutt) and we're not that far removed from the disastrous GOT finale that retroactively made everyone have never cared about the show:

What's the *best* ending to a show you've ever seen? Quote/reply etc

She’s right and she should say it.
At his introductory press conference in Toronto just now, Kazuma Okamoto says his daughter helped him choose the Blue Jays because she liked their logo the best of all the MLB teams 👍

David Robert Mitchell, despite having the most forgettable name on earth (three first names what the fuck?), put out two bangers in a row and is just now finally releasing a new one this year. Can’t wait.
UNDER THE SILVER LAKE is now on Netflix if you want to check out a dark, weird, funny movie that didn’t get the recognition it deserved upon its release.

This year’s Oscar race is starting to feel increasingly like the Oppenheimer year, where an intensely overdue director is getting their flowers. Maybe moreso because people keep looking for a competitor to keep the race interesting…”uhh Hamnet, no wait Sinners, no no wait Marty Supreme”

Cerebus, Spider-Man, Dragon Con, Misfits, Rosemary’s Baby, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, I’m probably forgetting something…

Concluded the first season of Dark in our rewatch, and while I think it remains a fun twisty watch, there’s a part of me now that asks: “you can’t expect me to believe all these folks still live in this city, do you?” and “Wouldn’t some kind of bigger authority get involved in these murders?”
