Lynching takes many forms: "An autopsy report seen by Newsweek showed Ge was found tied with a bedsheet, with linens around his wrists and ankles in what the report described as a "hog-tied" position." This is what has been described as a suicide. #abolishICE
A Chinese immigrant detained by ICE was found hanged to death with his hands and feet tied and Newsweek runs the article with a trigger warning about “descriptions of suicide”?

A lot of the people lamenting Marjorie Taylor Greene’s departure from Congress—and celebrating her as some kind of principled maverick—are going to end up eating their words when she reemerges in 2028 to help lead a pro-groper, pro-Fuentes “America First” faction of the GOP.

For so so so many reasons, I always hear Bob Dylan's classic "Masters of War" when contemplating the latest cruelty from the current current fascist administration. Always willing to sacrifice the lives that are not their own.

I want people to displace the imaginary depictions of *revolutions* that they have come to create in their heads with the actual small revolutionary acts that happen daily. We might get closer to revolution that way.

This is why for years many of us and the ACLU warned of the dangers of adopting “domestic terrorism” as a frame for responding violence against vulnerable groups in the US. It’s so readily used against us, as is the rhetoric (and expansion of police powers) of “hate crimes.”

Excellent 🧵.
My comment on the "who is more racist" discourse is that Northern proponents of mass policing and incarceration pointed to openly racist caricatures of Southern sheriffs to avoid re-examining policing and jail in general.

It helps a lot that James Comey isn't sitting in pretrial lockup and can help plan his defense with his lawyers. Too many people never get the point where the jury feels like an option.
I will say Ye Olde common law jury trial system is proving its merit here. forcing prosecutors to get random dopes to agree on what they're doing is an important check

Agreed. Speaking for myself, I believe we’re in this mess, a long time in the making, because so many people thought that rights and other gains won would remain secure without our having to fight like hell to keep/expand them. Many people warned that this was the case but were labeled “alarmist.”
Curmudgeonly compaint to ignore: Even as I recognize its necessity, I don't like "we're going to win" rhetoric. I think it implies "norms" can be restored, that there'll come a day when this is "over"--vs. a long struggle in which there're victories but no final victory, because this isn't a movie.
