Timeboxes are just as effective enabling constraints as WIP limits and SLAs when it comes to stabilizing flow.

They just rely on a different aspect of Little’s Law to do this.

Think Kanban is the only game in town to stabilize flow?

Think again. The mighty time box is just as good, as an enabling constraint.

Part 2 of "How Flow Stabilize" drops tomorrow at The Polaris Flow Dispatch

We know from 20+ years of industry experience that these techniques produce stable processes, but what does that mean?

In the next two posts in our series on Little's Law we show you.

What if I told you the reason you might believe that Littles’s Law doesn’t apply to processes in complex adaptive systems is:

1. Your concept of “Little’s Law” is too narrow.
2. You are measuring the quantities in Little’s Law incorrectly.

We’re up against a terrifyingly corrupt president abetted by a deeply compromised Supreme Court. It’s going to take new tools and different applications of the old tools to confront the threat we face. No shame in that.

They say you can’t apply Little’s Law in Complex Adaptive Systems.

I renewed my passport online and it took 2 weeks to get my new book at home.

No expedites, just regular process.

Very smooth - just fill out a form and upload a photo taken from your camera.

Looks like some Biden era programs are still running on autopilot.

Hope DOGE doesn’t notice 😅

If 𝙏𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙥𝙪𝙩 = 𝙒𝙄𝙋/𝘾𝙮𝙘𝙡𝙚 𝙏𝙞𝙢𝙚 does it mean that reducing cycle time will increase throughput?

Or if 𝙇 = λ𝙒 does that imply that reducing 𝙒𝙄𝙋 (𝙇) reduces 𝙘𝙮𝙘𝙡𝙚 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 (𝙒)?

The irony here is that she seems to genuinely expect that readers will be surprised that a “proud“ conservative supports a govt program that directly benefits them.

Her earnest naïveté is only surpassed by her cluelessness.

Donald Trump has disgraced the United States of America in countless ways since he first entered political life ten years ago.

But he had never disgraced the nation as badly as he did today.

He has brought shame on this country to an extent I had never thought possible. And he has only just begun.

“Build your own fucking pedigree”!

Indeed. The amount of time people waste mimicking what the SV companies do instead of figuring their own unique competitive advantage in their own market is astounding!

But we also have an entire industry of “thought leaders” who encourage this.

So 🤷
But nope! Mostly what we're witnessing is the compound interest of advantage.

If you run an engineering org, stop competing for the already pedigreed, and build an org that rewards curiosity, effort, hard work, teamwork, and caring, as well as brains.

Build your own fucking pedigree.
