Oh hey you know what else I forgot about this year? Building a whole ass website. I post essays, full res of cover art, and short stories there.

Sometimes I forget to update it so if something is missing @ me and yell at me to fix it

My top 2 movies of the year are Reze Arc and Sinners. One is a beautifully animated ultra violent romance story and the other is a beautifully composed ultra violent musical about racism.

Sucks I missed Sinners in the theater smh.

One of my hotter takes is that The Monkey is one of the best movies of the year. I think people were down on it cause they expected another Longlegs from Perkins but I think The Monkey is very funny and more than a little inspiring.

It's not often we get truly good thrash metal but the fact we got 2 A tier albums from bands I really admire warms my battle jacket.

Reason #81640 × 10^12 why having access to old media is beneficial for any artisic medium: so you know when someone is trying to peddle you hack shit.

ai guys trying to convince you that they're not replacing artists but replacing their own brainstorming is insane cause even if that was true why are you bragging about not coming up with your own ideas?

What might go hand in hand with this is the factoid that most gamers don't finish games which is a real bummer of a statistic. So maybe that is the best way forward - to make every single thing in the game unique so a one and done player comes away feeling like they got what something worthwhile

Even something like Elden Ring has massive repetition in its dungeons because their scale and unique layouts require them to be samey in order for there to be the number of them From Soft wanted to hit. It's the ol 'fast/cheap/good' triangle but instead it's 'quantity/quality'

Games are already about repetition since that is the nature of a gameplay loop but I find it baffling that so many devs are scared of the idea of reusing an area or level or whatever.

No proc gen, no massive open world map, no fuss no muss, just a tightly designed areas that encourage you to explore its many nuances.
