I mean yeah, blue state governors and university presidents called the cops on and tear gassed their kids. Karine Jean Pierre called them Charlottesville Nazis from the White House podium. Don’t know what people thought was going to happen.

Still, the suffering of the Sudanese people is on a whole other level. The indifference isn’t owned by the West alone; it’s shared by those closest too. Arabs watch Africans burn and feel nothing, just as others once shrugged as Syrians fought the flames. It’s not geography. It’s hierarchy.

Zohran Mamdani caught lying that he understood Plato’s allegory of the cave, yet when asked to explain it, he seemed to instead explain Baudrillard’s theory of Simulacra and Simulation where reality has been replaced by symbols and signs, which seems similar to Plato’s theory but is not the same

I really love Rick Steves as much as one can love a public figure. His Iran episodes were very important to me personally—the first piece of major mainstream media I saw that didn’t treat us like comic book villains. IDK what happened to WASPs; they need more sources of emulation like him.
