The best solution I can think of is creating a framework for "cluster bullet custom blocks" - so people can add their own custom behaviors on bullet contact for specific map16 tiles.

It sounds a bit overkill and definitely not user-friendly, but raw GPS sprite code is just not safe to run...

Only if it optimises NMI in some way I'm unaware of. Otherwise, NMI runs on the SNES, so it shouldn't be any faster... I still have to try it though.

I'm trying my best to optimise it but the flicker seems to want to stay haha.

Also, tracking is no different in larger level layout sizes, it works as long as you're accounting for the low and high bytes of the coordinates - those still work as expected!

Yeah! It takes up 5 32x32 tiles though, which makes it pretty hard on vblank 🫠

Here's a demonstration of a very fast rate on LoROM (i.e. not on SA-1), which you can tell from the lag caused by the koopas #smw #romhacking
