Living on Wurundjeri Country.
99 hours later, I'm finished with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

I can't believe the scope of it - the depth of its character missions, how many of its minigames could stand on their own, how all the pieces click and interact, the world and sound design.

After completely mopping the floor with the Premier League and changing football for the worse forever, and on a night one of their overseas outposts won a league, Manchester City people still feel like the world owes them something. So embarrassing.

Well that was a gut punch. Not the missed opportunity so much as the experience.

Thought Zizou and Arzani played well enough to give us a sniff but Valadon wasn't the glue guy he's been, Bos was a disaster and most of them just seemed half-asleep.

Copping the City Loop after going through your own line on the V/Line after midnight a fittingly soul-crushing conclusion to tonight's proceedings.

Been a little while since I've been as touched by a video game as I have by Umurangi Generation.

I wasn't always a Final Fantasy person - I've played III, XV and Remake - but just starting Rebirth has given me this silly grin and a sense of coming home.

Chocobos, the main theme, the heavy-handed metaphors, the way it bites off way more than it can chew but still manages to be charming and fun.

Seeing a lot of this - yeah, imagine! Two blokes who got away scot free, weren't dragged through the courts, had the media onside and a public willing to look the other way.

Living on another plane of existence, these people.

Tried to take a photo of Bluey and Bingo for Dan's little cousin in Italy and it's ended up looking like they've just been arrested.

Amyl and the Sniffers at the Bowl. You could see how much it meant to them, and they told us too. Such a sick vibe they've cultivated.

And a shit hot setlist. Particularly stoked to have seen Some Mutts Can't Be Muzzled.

My dad quit smoking a few months ago and is channelling all of the energy it was inhibiting into growing vegetables, and I now get a bag of 'em whenever I see him.

Spring onions in a shoyu ramen, basil on homemade ravioli and cucumber in ginger and tahini soba.

I've quoted this Defector piece on the demise of Deadspin before and I'll quote it again - "nobody who matters ever asked for any of this shit."

If they go on with this, the game's gone.

A Letterboxd review described this as "un trailer di 136 minuti" and that's about where I'm at - sexy, scenic but none of it comes together.

Lots of snickering on the train about this. He flops and he makes a few blues but he cops way too much from the fans. Creators are going to lose the ball, and it's not his fault he's not playing in a coherent set-up. He put in a shift.

Well there's a bit happening here. Adama LCB? Bos LW? Arzani through the centre?

Gives us a fresh look and some verticality we've lacked if nothing else.
