My ideal TTRPG map is less Intricately Planned Out Hex Grid With Keyed Encounters For Every Hex and more Final Fantasy Tactics. Just let me make a location and just drop it wherever the fuck I need it to be on the map.

Every great adventure in a TTRPG, no matter which system, should include at least one (if not more than one) element that needs to be solved without using the character sheet. Puzzles, Role Playing encounters, hard choices - players feel more satisfied when it is more than dice that wins the day.

Every good fantasy setting is secretly a post-apocalypse. They're always full of ancient ruins and magical artifacts but weirdly the folks who made those things are always "gone" or "missing" and nobody can ever replicate how they made that sword catch fire.
