Lux (stylised in all caps) is the fourth studio album by Spanish singer Rosalía, released on 7 November 2025 through Columbia Records. Lux was recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra under the conducting of Daníel Bjarnason, with Rosalía as its executive producer. It features guest appearances by Björk, Carminho, Estrella Morente, Sílvia Pérez Cruz, Yahritza y su Esencia, and Yves Tumor. Other collaborators include Angélica Negrón and Caroline Shaw as arrangers, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo as composers, Noah Goldstein and Pharrell Williams as producers, and Venetian Snares as a drum programmer. ABClark 19 minutes ago OK-let's just get a few things straight, given that the WaPo editors have seen fit to misconstrue and miscite and generally try their darnedest to cherry pick from all sorts of sources. a) Katie Wilson said that her parents helped with childcare...NOT that she was supported by them in her 20+ years in Seattle. I SHOULD KNOW-I AM HER PARENT! If this Editorial Board had done its work, they would tell you that the childcare assistance (not full payment, btw) was so that she could run for mayor, which began in February. The single child in question is 2 years old, just to clarify how long it could have gone on!. So, Katie and her husband were shouldering a new burden of daycare and we grandparents of the child helped out BUT in the years prior, we had NOT provided any special support...yes, we send Christmas presents like most parents (equally to her computer science sibling), but we sure weren't underwriting her activities or salaries! See MomGate if you'd like to hear a little more on that subject. (And please, parents, stand up and say you never send cash gifts to your kids.) b) apartment, no car (yes, Seattle has a good transit system!)-is it bad to live well within your means? As for experience, she is clear on that-but working with diverse groups to get initiatives on the ballot, with some City Council members, being well-versed in both on-the-ground politics and governmental politics counts for something. And she is making no pretense of knowing what she does not, nor is she neglecting preparation for what lies ahead. As for labels, read her lips. She never called herself a Socialist, was not endorsed by the Seattle DSA...but by political leanings and actions, she admits that she falls into small-s socialist views. It is disturbing that WaPo editors clearly want her to fail and made sure to write a biased, she-shouldn't-be-there report. That will certainly help solve the all-too-common, very tough problems she seeks to ameliorate.

Restaurants and coffee shops keep closing because of a $20.76-an-hour minimum wage. Baum was not inclined to worry about strict continuity in his series, however, and so there were discrepancies in the origins and very nature of Ozma. In her initial appearances, she was portrayed as no more than a human princess, born shortly before the Wizard's arrival in Oz. Later in the series, Baum revealed that Ozma is actually a fairy, descending from "a long line of fairy queens" as stated in The Scarecrow of Oz. In The Magic of Oz, Glinda tells Dorothy that no one knows how old Ozma really is. In Baum's final book, Glinda of Oz, Ozma herself explains that she was in fact a member of the Fairy Queen Lurline's band when Lurline enchanted Oz and turned it into a fairyland.

once the series was completed, my summary of Scourge turned out to be the paragraph people remembered the most.
Here is the true story of Scourge: the dictate was given that it would be about Dragons, because Dragons are a creature type, and people like Dragons. It was also decided that it would get a keyword, and a non-keyword subtheme that fit into the above. Unfortunately, the development team was replaced by 1920s German Dadaists, who attempted to destroy culture through the lens of Magic cards. You want Dragons? You will have four of them. We will use the word “dragon” in other unrelated cards. Your bourgeois ideals cannot stand up to the absurdity of life. Your attempts at constructing meaning are a child shouting into their porridge. We will create a poetry of our mechanic, by opening the dictionary and assigning a word to a concept that directly contradicts the dragon you hold so dear. You wish for a tournament-playable Dragon? We oblige with a white creature that gives you a Plains for seven mana a turn, payable in installments. You cannot win. Bladewing, Mind’s Desire, dada m’dada dada mhm, dada 7U 1/1. Of the parts of the “dragon,” we have decided to reference its converted mana cost. You care about flying, and other insignificant things. You will care about a large number placed in a place you’d rather it not be. Dada is life. What is a dragon? A dragon is a word. It is not real, but nothing is, and words are things, and dada is real.

Regularly going toe-to-toe with Harvester management imbued the members of Local 236 with a visceral understanding of the mechanisms of exploitation and the virtue of solidarity. And all that activism meant something else too: life in the plant became about something besides drudgery. Factory labor, as Anne Braden observed, is generally "oppressive, in what you do all day, not only the work but having to put up with the foremen and the kind of atmosphere there is." But at the Harvester plant, "people really enjoyed getting up and going to work in the morning," she said. "You knew there was going to be something interesting at the gate, there was going to be a leaflet, there was going to be people out about something, and there was a real esprit de corps that I think made it bearable to go to work. Farm Equipment Workers Union local 236 realized you have to build solidarity between workers across division, not put up with bigotry because “that’s how they are.” This was in Louisville in the 40s-50s and right wingers are still arguing the opposite today
The FE Against the Grain 217 Wights view, "real racists and he mever ceased to be astonished by how membership in Local 236 had redeemed these men: They'd go along with (Blacks), eat with them, go places with them, go hunting with them, walk out with them, work on a machine with them, have fun in the shop with them. That was a new thing for [the white workers.] That union had put what people call today some kind of religious—I don't mean a biblical religion—I mean a religious feeling of them sticking together.21 What Wright described was quite familiar to Local 236 steward Charlie Yates, who got a job at the Louisville IH plant shortly after it opened. "Well, I don't think that I'm the guy that can say I was never prejudiced against colored people; I grew up down here myself, back in the country and I more or less thought the same thing; the rest of my family is more or less still that way," Yates said in the mid-1950s. He shared the worldview of most of the other white workers at the IH plant, who were "brought up all their life ever since they'd been kids, had it beat into their heads that colored people were always lower than they were." But they could change, Yates knew, because he had. "I realized I was no damn different from a colored person," said Yates, who became a partisan for his union's "constant campaign" to overcome the racial antipathy prevalent among his fellow white Southerners. "It's going to be a hard fight to get it out of their head, [but] I think our fights in the shop have done more to bring people over to our side, to get them to realize that they've got to work along with the colored people and realize that they're no better than a colored fellow working alongside of them," Yates said. "I can't remember a case when a fellow had a grievance in a department and being white or colored, whatever he was, if he had a grievance the rest of the shop had a grievance with him. We learned that in the '47 [Southern differential] strike," he maintained? … 218 The Long Deep Grudge in Louisville even those in organized shops-were not being asked to. "Those white guys who went to work in the Harvester plant were no different from the white people working in the Ford plant here or the distilleries or the tobacco companies," said Braden. "They were just like everybody else but they had a different experience when they got [into the IH plant]," she insisted. "It was something totally different from what workers in the Ford plant and elsewhere were hearing and therefore they acted in a different way ... to me it was amazing, the kind of turnaround in people's minds simply because they were in a different setting and what was acceptable in the old world was not acceptable when you walked into [the Local 236] hall." In her view, that distinction was driven by the FE's national leadership. Other CIO unions "did not take on the race issue," she argued, in a manner that carried down to the local level. "This I think the FE leadership did."

Now, Cox said, the union is waiting on the company to continue contract negotiations. Workers say pay and staffing are top priorities in this first contract. They also want to settle charges of unfair labor charges they've brought against Starbucks. "I want to be able to live in this city, pay for groceries, go out on Saturday night," Cox said. "I want to be able to enjoy the city that I live in, because right now I'm just working and sleeping and trying to budget my way through working at Starbucks."

The Magic: The Gathering release The Dark was 100% a commentary on the evils and hypocrisy of bigoted right wing Christians. X Having gone through the idiotic satanic panic of the 80s and then listening to their moronic and unfounded pearl clutching arguments that MTG promoted "devil worship", I had had enough and decided to hold a mirror up to them. That is why White is represented as dangerous, dogmatic and unempathetic in the set. White in The Dark glorifies ignorance, mob mentality and violence against those who are different. The truth is that people who view themselves as virtuous and righteous can be as deadly and dangerous as any blood sacrificing dark cult when they forget the message of love that is supposed to be the foundation of their belief system. We can see that replaying today with MAGA. I also wanted to paint spooky stuff. Two birds, one stone. Now you know. If you go back and look at the white cards in The Dark it will become crystal clear what the meaning of the set is. The Dark was a reference to the dark ages, when the church had full control of the population, when wise women and folk healers were burned as witches, education was only for the very elite and anyone who spoke up or strayed from the herd was killed in horrific ways. Even today people are trying to bring those dark days back. I was shining a light on them with this set. That is one of the important roles art plays in society and I view games as an artform.
