No, but in all seriousness now, we both think it’s our favourite. Much tighter than number 2, and for me it pips 1 to the post. Hefty emotions. Josh O’Connor brilliant.

I’m on the left btw.

Finished the fourth and final part this morning. It’s really nice returning to Dr. Who after a long break. Just to prove my credentials (although why would you need credentials to enjoy something) here’s a photo from a few years ago in Blackpool.

I have come across another note on the bus. This one less intriguing but wanted to share. Keep on smiling.

I have about twenty pages remaining of the piece you sent me, Mike, and it’s been the highlight of my week getting up to read it before work in the morning with a coffee.

Only ghost walk I’ve been on was Chester. It was mostly seeing the outsides of pubs. We asked the guide at the end if he recommended any pub in particular - he shook his head and said he didn’t drink. York would be a good one to do on our next visit. A night at the Golden Fleece is bucket list.

I whittled the January to end of June list (above) to ten. I’ve read some great stuff July to November, so choosing ten again will be tough. I always like seeing other people’s lists. So many books, not enough time. 🕰️

I loved that story. It felt like a classic twist, but I was surprised. I like strange stories that are a bit kitchen sink, and the relationship felt real. Also, York (although I don’t think it’s named - maybe it isn’t York) is a great setting. There’s something inherently uncanny about a B&B.

Finished this morning. I had already read ‘The Junction’ by Alison Moore, but I liked it more this time. Like a more interesting version of Roald Dahl’s ‘The Landlady’. If I had to pick one story from this anthology though it would be ‘Ghost Walks’ by @iancritchley.bsky.social. In a word: magic.

Thanks for sharing, Mike! I’m glad you liked that line. For me this story was almost an exercise in how much I could hold back. I hope it doesn’t come across as too little said. I know some people would find that frustrating!

I’m still trying to get my head around how to nicely format a short story on Wordpress - you’d think it’d be pretty simple. So apologies if the paragraphs are sort of mushed together, I think it should be okay to view in browser view. Cheers!
