I like that I watched Rogue One all the way through, and it only occurred to me afterwards that it *had* to end the way it did.

For the record, there are at least three misdirections-at-best in this week's Main Character's thread about how her being suspended for 72 hours for violating the violent rhetoric policy is the greatest outrage ever to happen:

I had started to wonder if the policy *had* to ignore nuance or context (or something like that) in order to deal with violent rhetoric overall with any success.

Bluesky used to use a much less stringent threshold for removing violent rhetoric than they do today, and it changed to the current more-stringent policy early on, when a large number of users objected to hyperbolic violent rhetoric used against a prominent poster that was not moderated.

I see Sarah's account has been restored. Whether she'll come back to use Bluesky or not remains to be seen. They claim she was immediately informed why, but that's not how it played out for her.

Best interpretation is a notice didn't reach her for some reason.

So, it's enough to quote a song lyric that Bluesky mods decide is a literal statement of intent.

I was suspended from BlueSky for defending the honor of Johnny Cash. I wish I were joking. In early October, I referenced the “I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die” lyric of “Folsom Prison B...

With petrol being a liquid, first found it a little odd that Americans call it gas.

Then discovered it's just a truncation of gasoline.

Gotta love language!
