Check out one of our recently published clinical trials! We found that 6 weeks of losartan improved microvascular endothelial function and reduced angiotensin II-mediated vasoconstriction in healthy women with a history of preeclampsia.

Harvard redid its whole homepage to push back against the administration’s demands. I mean, this is just a website but I think it’s kind of a great PR move: www.harvard.edu

The funding for these long COVID research grants was given back bc disability activists urged us to contact our reps persistently, in high volume, and we did. Remember that these tactics work the next time someone tries to get you to passively react instead of taking an active part in organizing!

Iowa district 1 friends! Join me TODAY at 2 pm at the (empty chair?) town hall for Dr. Mariannette Miller-Meeks at the Iowa City Public Library

I’ll be speaking as a concerned constituent about how devastating the threats to biomedical research funding are, and will continue to be, to IA citizens.

Wonderful short bluetorial on how and why you should contact your elected reps to fight for scientific funding. Every single letter/email/call/meeting can have an impact on your representative. Call them today!!
Heading back from #FASEBOnTheHill and want to share what I learned and why I think all scientists need to be setting up meetings w their reps to talk about the impacts on science of the current chaos. #AcademicSky #NeuroSky @faseborg.bsky.social @apsphysiology.bsky.social 🧪

Have noticed the same thing...early career folks (PhD students, post docs, junior faculty) are making the most noise. I am sure there are several reasons, but the lack of more established folks even acknowledging what is happening is unfortunate and telling...
Take a good look at who is speaking out. Grad students are running the biggest science protest because no one else would. Institutions are going to be targeted no matter what we do. Might as well go down fighting.
Thank you!

I, too, am shocked that so many are so quiet as if they think it will protect them from the worst of this. I don't think it will.

Freezing out the NIH's funding means freezing out American innovation.

Research into curing cancer, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's all delayed.

And ultimately it won't just cost us advancements in life-saving research, it will cost us lives.
NIH funding cuts could have ‘devastating impact’ on medical advancements, Chicago researchers say
The National Institutes of Health under President Donald Trump announced this month that it was cutting payments covering overhead costs for research institutions that receive its grants.

I just called the Iowa AG! Happy to pass on the script I made (IA specific but you can replace with your funding $). Check replies in this thread for examples if you want to make your own, too.
If you are a NIH funded researcher and your state is not on this list, you need to be calling your AG office

Excellent thread on indirect costs, how they fit into universities, and how we got here. 🧪
One place that has talked about the mechanics of this for a while is MIT. Some of the seminal pieces I learned from are from administrators there.

Calls are being registered--when i spoke to someone in Senator Tillis' office this morning they told me many people had called already today. Call tomorrow!
Call today-don't just "like" this message. Emphasize the economic impact of NIH, the advances in cancer and other diseases & the competition with China. Leave a message won the machine if needed and then call the local office-people answer those phones. ID the relevant Aide, email them, & meet
Yesterday President Trump announced a pause on all federal grant disbursals. While it is a bit vague on details, it appears to include research grants. This would be devastating to American science. If you have not had a chance, call your Senators & Reps 🧪
