Some basic fundamentals on the Rule of Law to help understand what's happening; why it's happening; and how it's happening (Actually, it's not just "happening." It's being done deliberately):

I dunno I was told by the consultant Dem class that everyone fits neatly on a political issue spectrum line and we just need to keep turning the knob to the right until we have enough votes to win
So much Bsky discourse is people with strong ideological conception arguing as if the people with weak ideological conception don’t exist

Past is prologue.

In 1933, during the Great Depression, a group of wealthy businessmen tried to overthrow the US government and install a fascist dictator to protect their own interests.

And everything that led to it feels way too familiar right now.

This is not a history lesson, it’s a warning.

A reminder that no Democrat voted for RFK Jr, not even Fetterman.

The GOP entirely own all the deaths, pain, suffering, unnecessary damage caused by RFK Jr.
once again congratulations to every single senator who voted RFK Jr, who will cost thousands of children their lives, into office
Initially, some moms of autistic kids eagerly accepted vaccine lies, because that way they could reject the "refrigerator mother" hypothesis, which blamed autism on "cold" mothering.

Now, those same tired vaccine lies will likely be used to blame moms who choose to vaccinate their kids.

An exploration of hero-making in America's Rupert Murdoch-driven fringe-right popular culture, with the case of Riley Gaines, a woman who once tied for fifth in a competition won by a trans athlete and used that to make a name and a career for herself predicated entirely on hate. Only in America.
How right-wing superstar Riley Gaines built an anti-trans empire
The swimmer tied a trans woman for fifth. The MAGA industrial complex took care of the rest.

The Olivia Nuzzi Comeback Is Everything Wrong With Modern Media
Olivia Nuzzi’s comeback isn’t a personal scandal story—it’s proof that today’s media rewards access, personality, and controversy more than ethics.

Somebody who isn't a real US attorney has been proceeding against somebody in federal court with a faked indictment.

In a sane system, Halligan would be going to prison.
Sure. "The Grand Jury did not see the operative indictment" is the kind of fuckup where lawyers literally don't actually know what happens next because it SO fundamental a thing that it is LITERALLY possible nobody had even thought of this as a thing that could happen.

Ugh. So fucking awful.

My first job in journalism was as a copy editor, and I truly believe it taught me as much about journalism — on the copy desk in Warren, Ohio — as anything else I’ve learned since.
