If I understood correctly, the SecReT mEsSaGeS were: "I have a lot of girlfriends. I like you better than my other girlfriends. Live a good life and don't let the haters get you down. New York is really fun. Viva Puerto Rico. Viva America (in the geographically-inclusive Spanish sense)."

On mom's side, seems mostly to have been economic opportunity (also, coincidentally, why I left) with a side of potato famine. On dad's side, we don't know; they were poor and didn't keep good records.
Genuinely curious: If your family is American, what brought them here?

Also, the culture of secrecy and the binding of people is precisely how you create an environment ripe for abuse.

So good luck and God speed, current clerks. Remember you don't have to put up with shit.

I want to say something more about this.

Way back in 2007, the clerks were in fact counseled on confidentiality and ethical canons. Roberts gave us a little speech and was like "you are bound to not speak about this by all legal ethical canons."

Response is to @timdickinson.bsky.social 's post above: "Today I saw ICE gas little white kids in the streets of Portland with chemical weapons. Imagine what they're doing to brown and black kids in the detention camps"

When Keystone Kash's FBI raided the Georgia election office, they not only took all the ballots and equipment, they also took the back-up images of the ballots.

Taking the back-up images means that they can tamper with the ballots without anyone being able to prove they did it.

Homan’s use of “in theater” confirms DHS views this as a war in which they’re occupying hostile territory.
Q: Can you be specific about how many ICE and CBP agents are currently operating in the state?

HOMAN: 3,000. There's been some rotations. They've been in theater a long time. Day after day, can't eat in restaurants, people spin on you, blowing whistles at you. But my main focus now is draw down

If you're all parking in one spot, leave someone behind to keep an eye on the cars and take pics of anyone surveilling/planting things on them.

Keep your phone locked except when necessary - in Pittsboro one of ours had her phone stolen by fash after they hit her in the head with a hockey stick
Use separate cars for rapid response and mutual aid. That one really is important

Don’t use your full legal name as your Signal display name. Assume your Signal chats are public & don’t talk about crimes or share sensitive info you wouldn’t want screenshotted by a reporter or read out loud in court

This isn't about "training issues." The murderer who executed Renee Good has been with ICE for 10 years, and according to DHS, the murderer who executed Alex Pretti has been there for 8 years.

These aren't "new recruits," or officers that can be "retrained." ICE can't be reformed. Abolish ICE.

One thing that's confusing to me is how few of The Enemy have been doxxed. This administration has been notoriously, consistently terrible with opsec, so how have 22,000 violent jackasses mostly managed to keep their names and deeds out of the news?

Solidarity, particularly across race and class, is Kryptonite for authoritarian regimes. They can only thrive when their us v. them framing is adopted by society at large, and they join as active or passive collaborators with the regime. So the only response they have is to raise the cost of unity
They are telling us in unequivocal terms that if you show solidarity with immigrants who are in the literal crosshairs of Trump/MAGA, you're risking a death sentence.
