What is it about Dark Cloud (PS2) that's so charming?
The combat itself is meh.
The dungeons are grindy.
The story is pretty basic.
I'm not invested in any of the character's personal problems.

Having completed Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded I get why peeps would say it's skippable since it's mostly detached from the main games.
However, it poses possibly important questions:
Can data have a heart? What happens if data crosses into the real world, or a data world falls to darkness?
